A very simple, short and relatively flat trip, making it the perfect option for those with children or with little hiking experience.
This family-friendly route exhibits some of the best hidden treasures of the Montsec Aragonés: Chiriveta Tower, which dates back to the Muslim rule in Spain, Our Lady of the Gorge Hermitage (11th century) and Mont-Rebei Gorge.
Starting in Chiriveta, we recommend heading south-east along the trail that leads to Mongay. Soon after you’ll take up a stone path which guides you to some old buildings before joining up with another trail, at which point you’ll be able to sneak a peek of Chiriveta Tower standing tall on a hill.
After a gentle climb, the trail arrives at the defensive tower, which offers spectacular views of Mont-Rebei Gorge. After a short rest at the tower, the trail loops quickly downhill the Our Lady of the Gorge Hermitage, perched atop a rocky shelf, balancing precariously above the void below.
Next the route heads back towards Chiriveta, passing through scrubland. The walls lining the edge of the path warn you that you are coming close to Chiriveta, which you reach after a gentle climb.
